30 September 2008 – Raleigh, NC – Workplace Options, Inc. (WPO), the largest provider of work-life employee benefits in America, has been named one of Triangle Business Journal’s (TBJ) “Best Places to Work” in 2008. Founded in 1982, WPO employs 165 full-time employees in the Triangle, the region of North Carolina anchored by the cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, and provides work-life resources to employee assistance programs (EAPs) and businesses. Their services are designed to assist employees with their tasks to make managing their personal and professional lifestyles easier.
The 2008 list, published on September 26, selected 45 out of 173 entrants. The list includes three categories: small companies with 50 or fewer workers, mid-size companies with 51 to 150 workers, and large companies with 151 or more workers. TBJ and Quantum Market Research contacted each entrant and provided a confidential online survey for employees. Participating employees took survey to qualify their employer for the list, and the winners were chosen based on the survey results.
In their survey responses, WPO employees cited strong communication, an open and honest work environment, and incentives for participation. They also praised WPO’s strong health and education benefits, flexible hours, and opportunities for professional advancement. Andria Hall, service center manager at WPO, noted, “They [WPO] are very considerate of our needs, and in return they have employees who look forward to coming to work each day.”
“Our products and services promote a healthy and productive workplace by empowering employees and their families to achieve a positive work-life balance, and WPO promotes that philosophy at every level of our own company,” said Dean Debnam, chief executive officer for WPO. “By providing our employees with a supportive work environment, we attract and retain the best work-life experts in the country. We’re proud to be one of the ‘Best Places to Work’ in the Triangle, and hope our services will also help other businesses achieve this kind of recognition.”
