24 May 2010 – Raleigh – Workplace Options, a leading global provider of work-life and employee assistance benefits, today announced its new Global Assurance solution for businesses seeking to add employee benefits coverage for workers traveling out of the country.
On the heels of a recent report by American Express that found a quarter of the world’s major companies plan on increasing worldwide travel this year in hopes of generating sales, the option to provide global benefits coverage for employees is of great value.
The first service of its kind in the industry, Global Assurance will ensure that any current work-life or employee support benefits will follow the employee rather than only providing coverage while in their home country. Simply put, the product will continue to provide employees with the same employer-sponsored benefits they would receive while at home.
For example, if a U.S. citizen traveling to Ireland for a week-long business trip found herself in need of legal services while there, Workplace Options would be able to connect her with legal service providers in that country, instead of a service provider hundreds or thousands of miles away.
"As employers continue to expand their businesses across borders, the need for global benefits coverage has become increasingly important to companies," said Dean Debnam, chief executive officer at Workplace Options. "With that in mind, Workplace Options is pleased to be the first employee benefits provider to offer this global safeguard."
Whether on a business trip or vacation, under the protection of Global Assurance, employees are covered for up to 30 days. Additional expatriate or extended global coverage services are also available for instances when employees are out of the country for an extended period of time.
"While many workers find themselves periodically traveling outside of their home country, many do not realize the lapse in benefits coverage that occurs once they cross borders," said Alan King, president and chief operating officer at Workplace Options. "Global Assurance is a step employers can take to safeguard their most valuable assets no matter where they travel for business or pleasure."
The Global Assurance product is available immediately as an optional service, and provides coverage in any of the 153 countries worldwide served by Workplace Options. For more information on the products and services offered by Workplace Options, visit www.workplaceoptions.com or call 866-792-3610.
