24-hour, toll-free, telephonic support from a Registered Nurse who can provide medical information

It can be of great comfort knowing there is a resource available any time, any day to assist with medical questions and advice. Advantage Nurseline enables employees to ask a qualified Registered Nurse their questions about medical issues.

 

The Registered Nurse will assess the critical nature of the caller's medical needs.

  • Life-threatening emergency: Direct the patient either to call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency facility.

  • Urgent but not life-threatening: Determine whether the patient should a contact physician.

  • Patient seeking general health information: Answer questions and provide pertinent information.

 

General Reasons for Calling Include:

  • Determine the need to seek medical care

  • Questions about medications, tests, or procedures

  • Information on the care of a new or chronic condition

  • Tips on more effective communication with healthcare providers

  • Questions about keeping fit

 

Audio Library
Included with the service is an audio library providing access to more than 400 pre-recorded messages on general health topics. Callers can learn about a condition or diagnosis and gain a better understanding of appropriate care, with the option to speak with a nurse to discuss any remaining questions.

How the Service Works

 

Staffed by Registered Nurses with an average of 19 years of professional experience, Nurseline is available around-the-clock to provide medical advice and information.

 

  • After calling the toll-free access number, the caller will be routed to a Medical Service Representative (MSR).

  • The MSR will document the caller's issue and screen for emergencies.

  • If the call is identified as a potential emergency, the caller is advised to call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room.

  • Non-emergency calls are returned by a Registered Nurse qualified to address the issue.

  • The nurse will assist with any medical concerns, and when necessary, direct callers to a physician or medical facility
