Raleigh, NC and Rochester, MN, May 21, 2013 – Workplace Options, a global employee effectiveness company and the world’s leading work-life services provider, and Mayo Clinic have established a strategic relationship to offer enhanced wellness services. In an initiative set to launch July 1, 2013, Workplace Options will adopt Mayo Clinic’s coaching model into its existing suite of wellness services. The services will extend to Mayo Clinic’s current commercial client base in addition to Workplace Options’ global network of more than 40 million employees in 30,000 organizations. Mayo Clinic will train Workplace Options coaches and provide quality assurance oversight of the program.

“This is an important strategic collaboration for both of us,” said Dean Debnam, chief executive officer of Workplace Options. “Mayo Clinic is tapping into Workplace Options’ global network of 170 countries, allowing for expansion not only in United States markets, but worldwide. Workplace Options is tapping into Mayo Clinic’s wealth of knowledge, allowing us to continue innovation in employee wellness services. It’s a great move for everyone involved.”

“Our relationship with Workplace Options positions us to pursue global expansion of our employee wellness programs,” said Dr. Paul Limburg, Medical Director, Mayo Clinic Office of Wellness. “We are excited about the potential to grow our services to provide help and hope to more people in need across the globe.”

As more organizations recognize the bottom-line benefit of healthy employees, wellness programs continue to demonstrate their value as an important part of benefit offerings.

  • 50 percent of employees who completed the program for tobacco cessation quit using tobacco
  • 75 percent of stress management clients reduced their stress-related physical symptoms
  • 56 percent of employees who used weight management services lost weight

“Our relationship with Mayo Clinic enables us to better integrate wellness into our employee services,” said Alan King, president and chief operating officer of Workplace Options. “The addition of Mayo Clinic’s wellness expertise and oversight will definitely enhance our services.”

Through this relationship, Workplace Options and Mayo Clinic seek to deliver knowledge in new ways and create value at affordable costs for employers and their people throughout the world.
