Workplace Options, the world’s largest independent provider of holistic wellbeing solutions, has announced a new partnership with Kidpower International, a global nonprofit leader in ‘People Safety’ education, set to go into effect ahead of the final quarter of 2023. This new partnership, just one of several that WPO has made with both local and national nonprofit organizations in recent years, comes as WPO reveals that the theme for the company’s 2024 impact project is “Empowering the Future,” which will focus on the emotional and physical wellbeing of people of all ages, including children.

Launched in 2022 as a way for the organization to make an impact globally and locally to wherever WPO’s employees and services centers are located, WPO’s annual impact project comprises WPO’s workforce providing complimentary services to a number of organizations nominated by the employees themselves. For this year’s project, WPO will continue this trend by lending its uniquely skilled workforce directly to Kidpower through volunteer time for learning and teaching safety skills, translations, sharing educational resources, making videos, and more. In return, this partnership will also provide employees with access to Kidpower’s various tools and resources, including workshops, articles and blogs, videos, eBooks and an Online Learning Center—all in hopes of making schools, organizations, workplaces and their surrounding communities a safe place to be.

“What excites me most about this new partnership is that it really underscores WPO’s commitment to providing holistic wellbeing solutions for communities, not just employees,” said Alan King, President and CEO of Workplace Options. “We do serve employees; we do serve students—but we also provide support to their families as well. We recognize our members not just as employees and students, but as parents and caretakers, sons and daughters—dynamic individuals—and I believe that this new partnership showcases that perspective.”

“The inspiration for starting Kidpower happened in 1985 when I suddenly had to protect a group of terrified young children from someone who was threatening to harm them,” explained Irene van der Zande, Executive Director and Founder of Kidpower International. “Even though there were people standing all around, everyone froze—not because they didn’t care, but because they didn’t know what to do.”

“In that moment, I saw that we all need to know what to do to stay safe from harm and to protect others,” continued van der Zande. “Kidpower today is the global leader in personal safety skills education for all ages and abilities. Our exciting partnership with WPO will open the door for millions more people to access our workshops and free educational resources, helping them and their loved ones to live safer, happier lives.”

Some of the resources that employees will have access to through this partnership include:

  • Live online workshops, which are broken up into four categories based on their targeted audience (Familypower for youth side-by-side with their adults; Parentpower for parents and other caring adults; Fullpower for teens and adults and Propower for professionals and volunteers)
  • Self-paced recorded courses to learn and teach, which cover a range of topics including sexual abuse prevention, school shootings, emotional safety skills, bullying and more
  • Downloadable posters, handouts, eBooks and cards, which are available in multiple languages
  • An extensive online library and resource pages addressing many solutions including bullying solutions, which are not just for children but for people of all ages, abilities, orientations, and more
